This summer has offered a number of challenges for UK investors as August saw the biggest sell-off in the pound, gold and corporate bonds in years, Bloomberg reports. And it may not be over yet amid Britain's problems with the toxic combination of double-digit inflation and an accelerating recession. The pound is already near historic lows after posting a nearly 5 percent drop this month - the biggest since the Brexit vote in 2016. Meanwhile, government bond yields posted their biggest monthly jump on record in August. Funds are already shunning UK assets on the grounds that the Bank of England (BoE) will find it difficult to raise interest rates fast enough to contain the rising cost of living crisis. The sell-off in the markets highlighted the country's dependence on foreign investment. This process began when Britain decided to leave the European Union (EU), while the weaker pound and higher commodity prices clouded the country's terms of trade. It's a combination that pushed the yield on 10-year British bonds up nearly 100 basis points this month, the biggest rise in Bloomberg data since the late 1980s. loans are hurting companies across Europe, the funding situation is particularly dire in the UK. Shares in domestically listed companies also had a bad month, with the benchmark FTSE 100 down nearly 2% in August, although the drop was more than 6% in dollar terms. This is due to the weaker pound, which is now down more than 14% since the start of the year. At the same time, the more domestically focused FTSE 250 fell more than 5% on fears of inflation and recession.

The factory should be officially operational in 2025 and produce lithium-ion batteries. They will be produced specifically for Honda and Acura's electric models for the US market to ensure the production of electric cars. The goals of both brands include the production of batteries with an annual capacity of 40 mAh. Honda has already confirmed that it is developing three different platforms designed specifically for electric cars, which we will be able to find in 30 new models that will appear on the market by 2030. We will probably see the first of them in 2026, and by the end of the decade, Honda plans to reach production of 750 to 800 thousand electric cars per year for North America alone.

There has been a shift in the world ranking of the richest people. Already at number 3 is the Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, who on Tuesday of this week overtook Bernard Arnault. With a fortune of $137 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Adani is the first Asian in history to reach the top three. Only Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (with $153 billion) and Tesla CEO Elon Musk (with $251 billion) are ahead of him, writes CNBC. The reshuffle comes just 6 months after Adani was named Asia's richest man. He added $60.9 billion to his fortune this year, making him the only one in the top 10 not to see a decline in his wealth in 2022. Adani has come a long way from a college dropout in his second year at Gujarat University to a sorter of diamonds. Adani is the founder of the Adani Group, a corporation that has a vast portfolio of companies in various industries, including ports, coal and power.
