Karanovska hill

The Karanovska village hill is situated in the village of Karanovo, Sliven region. That's the biggest village hill in entire Europe. The hill is formed by consecutively built - one on top of the other prehistoric villages. The hill takes 25 000 sq.m. area, but the archeologists have done researches only on small part of it. The excavations at the moment are showed 7 cultural layers with 12,4 m. lift. They prove aging of the hill around 4 000 years B.C. Here have been found many homes with rich domestic implements - tools, made of stone, flints, bones, copper and many more. In the Karanovska hill have been found many clay slabs with signs on them, which are the oldest in Europe. Now the findings are in the National archeologist museum in Sofia and some of them are in the Regional History museum of Nova Zagora town. Unfortunately, the visitors in the village of Karanovo cannot see together the findings with the hill. That's the main reason the historical tourism in the village do not be developed. If a part of the findings were in the village museum, Karanovo should be a tourist center with National importance.
