Pobit Kamak Village

The village of Pobit kamak is located in the middle of the Loudogorsko's plateau, 20 km northeastwards of Razgrad. Through the middle of the village passes the road Razgrad - Zavet. The village exists since 1880 when settlers mountaineers came from Gabrovo. The village was named after the upright stone at its centre that can be seen even today / "pobit kamak" means "an upright stone"/. Many old houses which keep alive the unique atmosphere of the past centuries are preserved. The Ethnographic complex consists of several authentic houses in Balkan style that were built more than a century ago. The houses display rich expositions on the basic crafts that were means of livelihood for the local population. The village still celebrates holidays like: Midwive's Day/January 21/, Todor's Day, St. Lazar's Day/Saturday before Palm Sunday/, Easter and Christmas. A tourist itinerary in the area is the forest path to the district "Nikolova gora - mogilata" where used to gather the detachment of Panaiot Hitov whose standard-bearer was Vasil Levski. The ecopath is surrounded by oak, birch and lime woods and there can be seen deers and rare birds. Another noteworthy district is "Dalgij kolak" where used to hide the detachment of Tanio voivode.
