Ivet Lalova

The fastest white woman in the world – Ivet Lalova was born on May 18, 1984 in Sofia. She is the daughter of Miroslva Lalov, who is one of the best Bulgarian sprinters. At the beginning the young Ivet was fascinated by the ballet, but later she declared that she wanted to go into training for track-and-field athletics. At first it was difficult to find a coach for her because no one wanted to do with kids. Yet Konstantin Milanov, a friend of the family, accepted the little girl in his group and still the two of them work together in the national team as well as in the club team – Levski. The first success of Ivet Lalova is the fourth place at the World Championship for girls in 2001 in Debrenetz, Hungary. This just put her on her mettle and in 2003 at the European Championship in Tempre, Finland, she was first at 100 m with a result of 11,14 sec and at 200 m – 22,88 sec. At the Olympic Games in Athens Ivet lalova proved her right to be among the European elite, taking the fourth place at 100 m and fifth place at 200 m with results of 11,00 sec and 22,56 sec. Then the German magazine Stern declared Ivet most beautiful at Olympic Games. On June 10, 2005 the sprinter-woman won the 100 m race at the Golden Spike in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Two days later on June 12 in Ulm, Germany, Ivet Lalova won the 200 m race. She is the leader of all times of the national rang-list with time of 10,77 sec, achieved in 2004 at the Cop Europe, held in Plovdiv.
