Medieval Yambol Fortress

It is situated in the western part of the town of Yambol. The fortified wall was constructed at the end of the 10th century and was repaired and expanded several times in the period 12th–14th century. Today, a significant part of the Yambol Medieval Fortress has been studied and preserved and is accessible to the public. It is the only archeological monument on the territory of Yambol dating from the Middle Ages and is of great interest to all the people interested in Bulgaria’s medieval history.
