Ilia Petrov (6 July 1903 – 18 May 1975)

Academician Ilia Petrov is one of the most beloved and famous Bulgarian artists. He is considered as one of the classics of Bulgarian painting art. He is best known for his portraits. He studied painting in Sofia and Munich. In 1940, he began lecturing in Bulgaria’s National Art Academy. His pictures are pearls in the collections of the biggest Bulgarian museums of art, as well as in many galleries all over the country.
