Vladimir Zaimov (1888 - 1942)

Vladimir Stoyanov Zaimov is a Bulgarian officer, general from the artillery, military officer. Participant in the wars for national unification (1912 – 1918). Vladimir Zaimov was born on December 8, 1888 in the town of Kyustendil. He graduated from the Military School in Sofia in 1908. He participated in the Balkan, Allied and First World Wars. He is a participant in the storming of Edirne. It is known what place the capture of the Edirne fortress occupies in Bulgarian military history. Later, in the Inter-Allied War, he was at Bregalnitsa and Kalimantsi. The heaviest and bloodiest battles are fought here. On July 18, 1913, Vladimir Zaimov was seriously wounded and awarded the Order of Bravery. Captain Zaimov participated in the First World War and was everywhere where the situation was difficult. It is known what the attack of Tutrakhan meant for our military history. This is perhaps the most difficult and difficult combat operation on the entire Northern Front. Vladimir Zaimov is wounded again and does not leave his post. Fort No. 8 of the famous fortress falls with his help. And again the young officer was awarded the Order of Bravery. During the Second World War, he was an opponent of Bulgaria's participation on the side of the Tripartite Pact. He was produced in the military rank of Major General. Arrested on charges of espionage for the USSR on March 22, 1942. Sentenced to death by firing squad on June 1. He was shot at the SHZO shooting range on June 1, 1942, the day the death sentence was issued.
