Celebration day of the town of Pavlikeni

Pavlikeni is a town in Veliko Tarnovo region, Central Northern Bulgaria. It is an administrative and economic center of the Pavlikeni Municipality. The city has a railway station on the route Sofia - Gorna Oryahovitsa - Varna. Several important roads pass through the city, connecting it to the cities of Veliko Turnovo, Sevlievo, Pleven, Svishtov, Polski Trambesh and Rousse. It dates back to 1943 on the basis of the former Pavlikian village, whose old population had professed Paulic. The settlement was created by the Paulicians, who came in the middle ages from southern Bulgaria. They were adherents of a religious heresy that originated in VII century in Western Armenia, which originated in Gnosticism. Pavlikeni has the only zoo in this part of Bulgaria. About 120 animals and birds of 23 species live there. Another landmark is the Antique Ceramic Center. This is the most well-researched site in Southeastern Europe. It is located 5 km away from the town, in the area of Varbovski meadows. The researcher, Bogdan Sultov, who discovered the Ancient Ceramic Center, made it the first open-air museum in Bulgaria in the 1970s. During the research and excavations, everything removed from the earth was subsequently incorporated as a material for the restoration of the site. In this way the buildings remain completely authentic. The city celebrates its holiday on June 29. (Source: bg.wikipedia.org)
