The Blind Vaysha

The Blind Vaysha is a 2016 animated short film, directed by Theodore Ushev, based on a story by Georgi Gospodinov. It is nominated for short animation, being the first Bulgarian to reach the final nominations for the Hollywood academy award. The Blind Vaysha is part of the book "Other stories" (2001), which is translated in German, French, English, Italian etc. This is the first mutual project of Theodore Ushev and Georgi Gospodinov. The film was produced with the help of the National Film Board of Canada, where the Bulgarian director works. The music is composed by Kotarashky. Blind Vaysha has two eyes - the left one sees in the past, while the right one sees in the future. In the film people look through Vaysha's eyes and see Vaysha herself. There are two parallel stories. The film is montaged in a way that both points of view are presented - the objective and subjective ones. Ushev is born in 1968 in Kyustendil, but since 1999 he lives in Monreal, Canada. He is an award nominee of more than 120 prestigious international awards for the past 10 years for his movies "Tower Bawer", "Drux Flux", "The man who waited" based on a text by Kafka, the musical "Demons".
