Archaeological park Topolnitsa

Archaeological Park Topolnitsa is located near Chavdar village in Saint Petka location. The village is located in Sofia region in Zlatitsa-Pirdop valley. The park is opened officially on the 27th of October 2010 and is made under European project. It consists of Neolithic residential buildings that are built according to plan and reconstruction of the ruins of the Early Neolithic settlement dating back 7000 years ago. Archaeological excavations near the river of Topolnitsa continued from 1968 to 1980. One of the most ancient cultures in South Eastern Europe was found there. Museum of Neolithic culture for the history of the found seven cultural layers in the settlement mound is located in the park. There are five Neolithic houses with workshops for stone tools, pottery, processing of leather. For lovers of authentic experience there is an opportunity to stay at one of the cottages.
