The area of Severen Dzhendem became a reserve in September 30, 1983. It is more than 1600 hectares large. Severen Dzhendem is the highest situated reserve in the Central Balkan National Park. The territory of the reserve includes the steep north slopes of the Balkan Mountain, just below the Botev and Rusalka Peaks. Forests are covering most of the territory of Severen Dzhendem. The century-old beech-tree and fir-tree forests are typical for the area. The animal world is comparatively rich. There are more than 20 species of mammals. The reserve is the living place of wild goats, bears, wolves, red deers, rocky eagles and falcons. Here is the second highest waterfall in Bulgaria – The Vidimsko Praskalo with 80 m height. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kApJ2H1Aw2C9SHmB7 | |||
