Petya Nedelcheva

Petya Nedelcheva is a female Bulgarian badminton player born on July 30, 1983 in Stara Zagora. She has won the European Badminton Championship 6 times. She has played on the quarterfinals of Olympic Games, World and European Championship. Currently she is among the world’s 10 best. Nedelcheva is the leader of the Bulgarian national team. Our first badminton event was in 1992 at the Olympics in Barcelona. There were 6 players to participate – Diana Koleva, Neli Nedialkova, Diana Philipova, Emilia Dimitrova, Victoria Hristova and Yasen Borisov. The best performance was scored by the national female players Diana Koleva and Neli Nedialkova. Koleva and Nedialkova challenged the next two Olympics as well – Atlanta 96, and Sydney 2000 and again reached the pair eighth-finals. In Australia the men’s top performance was reported by Stanislav Stoyanov. At Athens 2004 the Bulgarian badminton had its best ranking so far – Petya Nedelcheva ranked fifth.
