Hilendar Cloister – Stara Zagora

The Hilendar Holy Mountain Monastery existed in Stara Zagora in 18th-19th century and was one of the centers of the spiritual revival in the town. In 1979 the cloister of the monastery was restored in the yard of the St. Dimitar church. The cloister hosts the exposition Levski in the Stara Zagora region. The exhibition presents the three-year stay of the Apostle in the town (1855-1858) and his role in the establishment of the local revolutionary committees. The precise rebuild of the classroom of the St. Nikola School where the future Apostle of Bulgarian Freedom studied is presented.
