Regional Library Partenii Pavlovich – Silistra

The Library was established in 1870 along with the community center named then Nadezhda (Hope). In 1959 it was detached as an independent cultural institute having district methodology functions, and currently it provides methodological assistance to 90 community centers’, schools’, departments’ and companies’ libraries situated in Silistra district. The Library is located in a massif independent building in the center of Silistra constructed over 50 years ago and having a total floor area of 1350 sq.m. The book-depository is also situated in an independent building with total floor area of 200 sq.m. The Library’s funds have over 300,000 library documents. The real readers of the Library are more than 3000 per year, and the visits – over 40,000, and the checked out library documents – over 100,000. From 2002 the Regional Library Partenii Pavlovich – Silistra is a partner with the Aurora Public Library, Colorado state in the USA and works under a joint programme for attraction of readers and distribution of library knowledge and documents.
