Art Gallery in Dobrich

The Art Gallery in the town of Dobrich (Northern Bulgaria) is a specialized museum of arts with over 35-year history. More than 3000 masterpieces – paintings, sculpture, graphics, and decorative plastic arts from different generations of Bulgarian masters. The building where the Art Gallery is placed is one of the most attractive buildings in Dobrich – and is declared a monument of culture. It was constructed in the period 1933 - 1935 and is interesting as a sample of European influence on architecture. On the total area of 3960 sq.m the Dobrich Gallery has gathered a rich collection of Bulgarian arts, including works of Markvichka, Vladimir Dimitrov – the Master, Zlatyu Boyadjiev, Alexander Petrov, Bencho Obreshkov, Vassil Zahariev, Pencho Balkanski, Dechko Ouzunov, etc. Exhibitions from France, Spain, Poland, Slovakia, Cuba and others have been guests to the Gallery. The Art Gallery is in possession of over 1700 paintings created from the beginning of the XX century until today. The graphics collection includes over 1000 works. The section Sculpture of the Gallery presents works of Bulgarian artists created mostly in the period of the 70-s - 90-s. Although small in number, the collection of decorative plastic arts comprises works from the decorative genres - ceramics, textiles, mosaics, wooden pieces of plastic arts, posters etc.
