Silistar area is located just 3 km southwards from the Sinemorets village, on the road to Rezovo village, on the last beach strip before the Bulgarian boarder with Turkey. The area is part of the coastal eco-systems of the migratory birds called Via Pontika. The Silistar Bay is surrounded by a picturesque coastline, rocky heights and slopes covered with century-old oaks and other trees. This is the perfect place where everybody can touch to the real nature and feel the special touch of the Strandzha Mountain and the Black Sea altogether. At the Silistar Bay the Silistar River finds it’s way to the sea. Another interesting fact is that the area is inhabited by over 550 plant species, 30 kinds of freshwater and passages fish, 40 kinds of mammals and about 200 kinds of birds. Rare and protected bird species such as the Imperial eagle, the Black stork, the Special Dove, etc nestle in the rocks and the dunes around Silistar. Sand lily grows on the beach. Silistar has been declared a protected area since 1992 with a declaration by the Ministry of Environment and Waters. | |||
