 |
The church St. Nikola is a stony pseudo-basilica with a narthex and an outdoor gallery on the West and on the South. It is located in the village of Gradevo (Southwestern Bulgaria, Simitli municipality), Ovnartsi quarter. The interior is designed during the second half of the XIX century. The legend says that one night an old woman – Maria, dreamed where a pot with golden coins was buried and that the coins should be used for building a church. The church was constructed on a steep place. On the floor, in the middle of the building, there is a marble stab bas-relief. The year in which, the construction has been started to build is carved on the stab bas-relief. The ceilings are painted in an artistic unity. Hristos Vsedarjitel painted in the center of the parapet of the balcony. These are made by the icon-painters from the Bansko Art School. The decorative furniture is also made by them. Three candlesticks in an interesting shape are preserved well.
