The church St. Nikola-Old in the town of Lom (Northern Bulgarian) was constructed during the reign of the Bulgarian king Mihail-Asen (1246- 1257). It was destroyed several times and then restored by local patriots. In 1760 a monastery school was opened here – one of the first in the Vidin diocese, where the alphabet, the breviary and the psalter were taught. A part of the icons were painted by icon-painters from the Debar artistic school. Some of the icons were brought to the church St. Nikola-Young. | |||
