Byala Reka Eco trail |
 |
The eco trail Byala Reka (White River) is part of the infrastructure of
the Kalofer section of the Central Balkan National Park. Constructed in the gorge of Byala reka (White River), the two-kilometer long trail
passes eight bridges with total length of about 80 m, some 400 m of
stairs built into the ground and over 85 m of wooden staircases and
platforms. It is protected by 460-m-long railings, and has three
observation grounds, а relaxation spot, and eight places for enjoying
biological variety. The route is planned as attractive educational tour,
placed into one of the most picturesque parts of the park. The sheer
riverbank is covered with greenery and wild flowers, inhabited by plenty of animals. The trail is a circular 8-shaped route starting some 500 m above the Kalofer monastery, where the so-called Byala Reka bivouac was built. The bridges crossing the river are felicitously spread at the most beautiful and unapproachable parts. The trial ends at the beginning of the Dzhendema reserve and may be traveled over for about an hour.
