The Buinovo Gorge |
 |
The Buinovo gorge is situated alongside the Trigrad gorge, on both
sides of the Buinova River, an affluent of the Vacha River. The river
crossing the majestic gorge forms picturesque waterfalls. The high,
almost sheer rocks are so close in their upper parts that it seems easy
to leap to the other side. Local people call the narrowest part of the
gorge the Wolf jump. One of Bulgaria’s most beautiful caves – the
Yagodinska cave is located in the upper part of the gorge. The cave is
a five-level labyrinth with a total length of 10 km and is one of the
deepest caves in Bulgaria. The biggest attractions in the cave are the
cave pearls and the limestone formations that rose under processes
developing for thousands of years. Each year the New Year’s hall in
the Yagodinska cave attract many tourists willing to spend the New
Year’s Eve in an unusual and extremely beautiful atmosphere. Near
the cave some Enaeolithic settlements have been found.
