National Folk Festival – Koprivshtitza

The famous Folk Festival in Koprivshtitza this year will take place between 5th and 7th of August. The event is a unique chance for every lover of folklore to become acquainted wit the genre diversity of Bulgarian folk music and our immense cultural heritage. The Festival was organized for the first time back in 1965. Its very first edition attracted a great number of participants – more than 4000 folk singers, folk instrument players, story and legend tellers from all over the country. Through the years it constantly developed and expanded. The participants in this year’s Festival will perform on 9 stages and will include both Bulgarian folk artists, as well as guests from other countries, performing Bulgarian folk works of art. This year for the first time, Bulgarian craft traditions and products will be presented on a regional principle. The number of visitors to the Festival is expected to exceed 200 000 people.
