Museum of Speleology and Bulgarian Karst

The museum of speleology and Bulgarian karst is situated in the town of Chepelare (Western part of the Rhodopi mountain) and is the only museum of its kind in Bulgaria and one of the few cave museums in Europe. It houses exhibitions of documents, pictures and rock formations from the Rhodopi karst. It was established back in 1980 by Dimitar Raychev – a teacher in biology and a prominent and passionate speleologist-researcher of the Rhodopi mountain. The museum is a real temple for keen speleologists.
