July 18 – Karlovo public holiday

On the birthday of one of the holiest and most memorable heroes in Bulgarian history – the Apostle of Freedom, the ideologist of the Bulgarian revival – Vassil Levski, his native town Karlovo celebrates its public holiday. The Roses’ Town is situated in Plovdiv district, close to the birthplace of the father of Bulgarian literature Ivan Vazov. Karlovo is locatedin the Balkan outskirts and in the Rose Valley. The town has kept the Renaissance houses and the atmosphere of the small Bulgarian town, although everything has been innovated because of the growing interest in the wonderful nature, the lovely climate, the historical monuments and the preserved Bulgarian traditions. One of the most popular landmarks here is the birth house of Vassil Levski.
