Durankulak lake

The Durankulak lake is a part of the natural complex of the same name, situated in the most northeastern part of Bulgaria. It is located southeast of the village of Durankulak and about 18 km north of Shabla. It represents a natural firth, filled with karst water. More than 70 rare and threatened of extinction species inhabit the area of the lake. It has been declared a zone of national importance and in the winter gives shelter to many red-neck geese.
