Provartenika Rock Phenomenon

The unique rock phenomenon Provartenika is located in Northern Bulgaria, near the town of Lukovit. It is a majestic rock tower, rising above scores of smaller towers. People compare the formation with a clock-tower, from which the clock has been stolen, because of the big round hole in the rock, through which the sun beams pass during the summer and winter solstices. Specialists believe that in ancient times the place used to be an a observatory. Nowadays, Poovartenika has been declared a natural landmark.
