April 4 – Day of the Atlantic Solidarity

On April 4, Bulgaria celebrates the Atlantic Solidarity Day by raising the flag of NATO over the buildings, in which the agencies of the Government authority implement their functions, as well as at the entrance and exit points of our country. On this day in 1949, the North Atlantic Treaty was signed in Washington. Our country joined NATO on March 29 2004, undertaking the obligation to develop and strengthen the principles and goals of the Treaty, and to contribute to enhancing the solidarity among the members of NATO aimed at upholding freedom and their common heritage, based on the democratic values, personal freedom and the supremacy of law.
