Lednitsata cave

The cave Lednitsata is located in the Karst region of Zlosten, which has been declared a natural landmark. Here, on an area of 358 ha, some of the most famous abyss caves could be found. One of them is Lednitsata. It is 242 m deep and is situated on the bottom of a huge whirlpool, among a beautiful old beech forest. The cave represents a complex of many galleries, abysses, shoots, little halls, etc. The name of the cave (“led” in Bulgarian means “ice”, e.g. the Ice Cave) comes from the thin ice rind, which covers the walls of the entrance hall and the narrow gallery connected with it through most of the year.
