The first school day |
 |
By an old Bulgarian tradition September 15 is
the first school day. It is a date, which every
Bulgarian cherishes in their memory. Each year
on that day thousands of students go back to
the classrooms and many children cross the
school threshold and hear the school bell
ringing for the first time. For many years
Bulgarian people’s thirst for knowledge has
helped it in times of hardship, and struggles for
preservation of the Bulgarian school traditions
have been waged. Nowadays, September 15 is
a symbol of the new beginning and the
succession of generations. For many centuries
Bulgarian first-grade pupils look eagerly
forward to the first school day that will
introduce them to the immense world of
knowledge.
