Silver medals for Bulgaria at the Men's Volleyball World Championship

The Bulgarian national volleyball team won silver medals at the World Championship in the Philippines. For the first time since 1970, Bulgaria is once again among the two strongest teams on the planet. The Bulgarian team, which was the youngest at the championship, lost to Italy 1:3 (21:25, 17:25, 25:17, 10:25) in the last game, having previously won: 3:0 against Germany, 3:2 against Slovenia, 3:0 against Chile, 3:0 against Portugal in the round of 16 and a 3:2 victory over the USA in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Bulgaria defeated the Czech Republic 3:1, before losing to Italy in the final. Bulgaria has four bronze medals in its collection (1949, 1952, 1986 and 2006).
