Flag of Peace International Children's Assembly

On August 16, 1979, the First International children's assembly "Flag of Peace" was opened in Sofia. It is attended by children from 79 countries. On the last assembly day, at the foot of Vitosha the park complex "Bells" was opened as a symbol of the assembly. In its center rises a tall concrete structure of identical rectangular bodies oriented in the four directions of the world, as in the highest part of the monument, resembling the planet, there are seven bells - a symbol of the seven continents. Apart from being a symbol, they are intended as accompanying instruments in concert performances of the main musical bells - 18 in number, installed in the base of the pylons.The monument was created based on the idea of ​​Lyudmila Zhivkova.The performance is by a creative team led by:the sculptor Krum Damyanov, arch. Blagoy Atanasov and GeorgiGenchev, the sculptor Mihail Benchen and eng. Anton Maleev. The construction was completed in 30 days.
