The artist Dimitar Kazakov was born on 22 June 1933 in the village of Tsarski izvor, Veliko Tarnovo. In 1951 he joines the first class of the Art School in Sofia. He graduates from the National Academy of Arts, specialty "Graphics" under Prof. Evtim Tomov's class in 1965. From 1965 to 1972 he lives and workes in Pazardzhik, where he was sent by distribution. In 1972 he leaves Pazardzhik and settles with his family in the village of Bojurishte near Sofia. He workes as a permanent artist at the Bojurishte Military Unit until 1977. From 1978 he starts freelancing work. He is often treated in hospitals and sanatoriums because of his asthma illness. He dies on January 16, 1992 at his home in Bozhurishte. Dimitar Kazakov is an artist who in an original way recreates genre-folk motifs. He works with all techniques and with various materials. Between 1965 and 1990, he regularly participates with paintings, watercolor and drawings in General Art Exhibitions organized in Sofia, Berlin, São Paulo, Ankara, Washington, Paris, Dusseldorf, Tokyo, New York, Madrid, Basel, Nim etc. He presents over 40 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. Together with his brother, Nikola Kazakov, he donates more than 500 works of art to the Museum in Tryavna - paintings, drawings on terracotta and faience, wood and stone sculptures in the Old (or Slaveikov) school.
