Anton Strashimirov |

Anton Strashimirov is a Bulgarian writer, playwright, publicist and
politician. Born on June 15, 1872 in Varna, in the great Bulgarian
Strashimirovo family in the region of Pirin Macedonia. In the period
1890-1894 he was a teacher in different villages in Varna and
Burgas. He developed an active educational activity. In 1895 he went to study in Switzerland. After his return to Bulgaria he worked as a teacher in Vidin and at the Pedagogical School in Kazanlak. He
participated in the Macedonian liberation movement as a
revolutionary of Yane Sandanski. In 1902, he was a deputy of the
Democrats' Young Democratic wing in the XII National Assembly,
which later became the Radical Democratic Party. Member of the
Parliament in 1911 (XV XV), 1929 (XXII NS). He participated in the
Balkan War as a private. During the Inter-Allies War and World War I, he was a military correspondent and collaborated with the Military
Announcements newspaper and the Magazine Otechestvo. Anton
Strashimirov died in Vienna on 7 December 1937. He was buried in
Sofia. His work includes many stories, plays, short novels and novels ("Autumn Days", "Vihar. With the shopians to Constantinople, "Horo"). He is the author of the folkloric studies gathered in "Our People" where he describeed the Bulgarian ethnic groups; Many travel books, village studies, scholarships, Macedonian issue brochures, literary studies and articles.
