The 4th Infantry Regiment Pleven is formed in the city of Lovech in October, 1884. It consists of Vidin-based № 10, Sevlievo-based № 14 and Lovech-based № 13 infantry battalions. All of them have formed flags donated by Prince Alexander І on August 30th, 1881. In the Serbo-Bulgarian War (1885) he fights near Vrabcha, Tran, Slivnitsa, Pirot and Nis. In 1889 the 3rd and 4th battalions of the 4th Infantry Regiment Pleven form the 16th Infantry Regiment Lovech. In 1894 it is renamed to the 4th Infantry Regiment Pleven of His Royal Majesty Prince Boris of Turnovo Regiment. During the Balkan war (1912-1913) he is included in the staff of the 9th Infantry Division Pleven and takes part in the fights near Edirne (Odrin) and the charge on Akal and Kurt Dere Chataldja from November 4th-6th, 1912. During the First world war (1915-1918) he takes part in the Nis and Kosovo operation of the First Bulgarian army, under the command of General Kliment Boyadzhiev, in the staff of the 9th Infantry Division Pleven. He fights against the Serbians near Dryanova glava, Dervent, Nis and Kosovo Polje, against the French and Englishmen in the valley of the river Vardar, height Twins and Doiran.In connection with the reorganization of the Army from December 1st, 1920 the 4th infantry Pleven regiment was renamed to the 4th Infantry Battalion Pleven.In 1928 from the composition of the 4th Infantry Pleven and 3rd Infantry gendarmerie battalion was formed again 4th Infantry Regiment Pleven, which bears the name apparent name 4th Infantry Battalion Pleven until 1935. On October 3rd, 1937 in the village of Palamartsa, in the Popovo area, the regiment received new battle flag. It was received from the hands of the tsar by commander Colonel G. Ganchev.
