Milen Ruskov won the European Prize for Literature in 2014

Bulgarian writer Milen Ruskov received the European Prize for Literature in 2014 in Brussels for his novel Eminence. The aim of the prize is to promote cultural diversity in Europe. Milen Ruskov (48) is a translator from English. His novel Pocket Encyclopaedia of Mysteries (2004) was awarded the prize for literary debut, and his novel Thrown into Nature was named Novel of 2009. Elevation won the award Golden Age of the Ministry of Culture and National Literature Award "Hristo G.Danov." Elevation tells about the adventures of two participants in the Arabakonak Robbery on Sept. 22, 1872, leading to the failure of the revolutionary organization, created by Vasil Levski. The book is written in the archaic language of the era and interweaves the comic and tragic. Ruskov is the second Bulgarian writer who won the European Prize for Literature. Before him it was awarded to Kalin Terziyski in 2011.
