Bulgarite

On the 26th of November 2013 the newest book of architect Slavy Donchev named Bulgarite came out of print. On the same date its official presentation took place. The new book is a profound research of old Bulgarians’ homeland, material and spiritual culture and traditions. The book consists of rich illustrative material and lots of research in different fields: Bulgarian calendar, Bulgarian alphabet, Madara horseman, Bulgarians and Bogomils, as well as the trip of string instruments from the East to Europe. Arch. Slavy Donchev was born in 1922. He participated in Patriotic War and became a Knight of the Order of Bravery. He graduated from Polytechnic school and Architecture Faculty in Sofia. Arch. Donchev had worked in different design organizations until he was sent in the State Design Institute in Mongolia - Ulan Bator, where he studied local monuments of architecture and art and searched for materials about history and culture of different peoples among whom he sought for the homeland of the so called proto-Bulgarians. For the purpose he visited China, India, the ex- USRR, as well as lots of European countries. He managed conservation and restoration work in Pliska, Preslav and Madara. He is also author of numerous books and articles in the historical field.
