The town of Dobrinishte

The town of Dobrinishte is in a mountain region, with altitude of 850 meters and surrounded by three mountains – Rila, Pirin and Rodopi. The village exists from the Stone Age. There are abundant finds of Thracian and Roman pottery and coins from the period of emperor Neron. According to the legend between the 7th and 16th century the town was a fortress village, holding back the attempts of the Roman emperors to pass on the Mesta River in the interior of Bulgaria. The basin with mineral waters, known as Rimsko Banche, was on the course of Dobrinishte River. The most interesting sights for visiting in Dobrinishte are the churches St. St. Peter and Pavel and The Assumption of Holy Mary, the monastery St. Panteleymon and the place St. Nikola with the waterfall in the turbulent waters of the Valyavishka River. Dobrinishte is a starting station for the cabins Gotze Delchev and Bezbog, where there are great conditions for mountain tourism and skiing.
