“Aleko Konstantinov” House-Museum

The house-museum of Aleko Konstantinov – one of the great Bulgarian writers and public figures of his time,  in Svishtov was built in 1926. While he was still alive, he granted his house to the municipality of Svishtov to use it for the town’s cultural needs. A very interesting exhibition, showing the key stages of the short, but rich life of Aleko, or as he was called “The Lucky”, is preserved in the house. On the first floor of the house, a rich archeological collection is exhibited. On the second floor, an exposition of Aleko’s life and works is arranged. The house’s interior from the second half of the XIX century has been restored. Among the most precious exponents is the heart of the writer, which is kept in a glass vessel filled with formalin. His numerous literary works are presented through many books, published both in Bulgarian and foreign languages, into which they have been translated.
